How to Build a Study Schedule

Most study schedules fail because they assume perfect weeks. Build one that survives a bad Tuesday.

Start from fixed commitments

Put school, practice, work, and sleep on the calendar first. Study time goes in the gaps, not the other way around.

Use 40-minute blocks, not 3-hour marathons

Two or three focused blocks on weekdays plus one longer weekend session beats daily three-hour plans that collapse by Thursday.

Schedule the review, not just the work

For every two hours of new material, block one hour of review: error log, flashcards, redone problems.

Plan for one missed day

Leave one empty slot per week as a buffer. If nothing slips, that slot becomes bonus review.

Track completion, not hours

Count sessions finished, not time sat at a desk. Three completed blocks beat five distracted hours.
