Source and release

Source: U.S. Department of Education, College Scorecard, Most-Recent-Cohorts-Institution (collegescorecard.ed.gov/data). Release: May 2026 release (file published 2026-05-26). Fetched: 2026-10-14. Selection: Four-year public and private nonprofit colleges with at least 500 undergraduates: every college admitting 55% or fewer applicants, plus the 150 largest by undergraduate enrollment. Colleges that do not report test ranges are included with ranges shown as not reported.

Most test-score and enrollment fields describe fall 2022, tuition describes the 2022-23 academic year, and outcome fields such as graduation and earnings describe earlier cohorts. The reporting period for each field is in the table above, and the figures can differ from what a college publishes today.

Frequently asked questions

Can I reuse the dataset?

Yes. The underlying numbers are U.S. government public data, and FunSAT's compilation is free to reuse as long as you link back to funsat.bid/data/.

Where do the numbers come from?

From the U.S. Department of Education College Scorecard, May 2026 release (file published 2026-05-26). Each field's reporting period is in the data dictionary.

Why are some cells empty?

A blank means the Scorecard did not report that value for the college, for example SAT or ACT ranges at colleges that do not report them. Nothing is estimated or filled in.

Why is there no default rate column?

The cohort default rate is reported as 0 for 346 of 354 colleges in this release, so it carries no information for comparing colleges and is left out.
